Dewa Athena

Hello guys! It's me again, Fahira. It's been such a long time to write something on this blog. Soooo, I'm going to tell you about the activities I went through last week.

Dewa Athena was held on 25th of March, 1st, and 8th of April 2017. Dewa Athena is annual sporting events held by Seksi 7 OSIS SMAN 3 Bandung for 10th and 11th grader. This event started at 7.30 and took place in Lapangan Bali (the field where we usually do sports).

First thing first, we gathered in the basketball field to do the opening ceremony. I was a bit embarassed to go inside the field because at first I didn't see anyone with shocking pink jersey. Yes, while the other classes use dark or mild color, my class chose the shocking pink colour as our jersey. But as I entered the basketball field, I saw the pink squad (including the boys too). There were various games, from international to traditional games. Including basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, futsal, badminton, relay race, tug of war, and also gobak sodor!

On the first day of the event, 25th of March 2017, I didn't take much part on the event. I only played gobak sodor (luckily we won this game). That was because I had to attend KPA3's monthly evaluation because the concert is right in front of our eyes. But, my friend said that we won the tug of war, women volleyball, men basketball, and women futsal games.

On the second day, I participated in playing gobak sodor (again) and tug of war. I'm still wondering why I played the tug of war games, I don't have enough power to play this kind of game haha. But we managed to win because of our spirit and of course our big sized boys. The next game was relay race. There were four runners from our class, they were Rivan, Afna, Nadillah, and Wildan. It's funny because Rivan ran as fast as wind on the straight track  but he couldn't control himself when he turned. But, we won this game. After that, it's the women futsal turn to play. Sadly, we lost at this games

The third day was the final day of Dewa Athena and also the 'final' day for us. First, we played gobak sodor but we lost to X MIPA 4. Second, we lost relay run to X MIPA 7, Third, we lost volleyball to X MIPA 7. We only made one game to the final, tug of war but we had to accept the fact that our opponent was much stronger than us. And the result is we lost all the games. I emphasize it again, we lost ALL the games. I'm a bit disappointed though :(

Here are the pictures taken during Dewa Athena, credits to Adila and Raihana

However, I think that this event is the inverse from what I thought. I found this event was very exciting and spurred my sports' spirit.

Well, that's all from me. Thank you for reading!

Learn from Nature

Nature is everything that exist in the world, consisting of all things in our sorrounding such as environment and ecosystem. Nature is something that we can't live without. We can learn anything  from nature. Nature has been teaching us many this starting from something that we realize, as well as something that we don't realize.

We can learn from nature by getting involved in nature. We also can learn from nature by being closer to our sorrounding. From the sky, we can take the moon for example. The moon teaches us that we have to keep shining brightly even if in our darkest times. The next component is clouds. Cloud teaches us that we have to be a shelter for everyone in order to protect the others. We also can learn from the wind. We have to be calm like wind.

In the forest, we can find tree and leaf. The tree is very useful and important for us. Tree produces oxygen for our life. Tree teaches us to be useful to everyone. On the tree we can find leaf. From the leaf we can learn how to share what we have to the people who live in straitened circumstances.

The next place is ocean. The thing we can learn comes from its wave. Wave analogized as the obstacles we have to deal on. We have to get through the ups and downs that are emerge unexpectedly in our life.

But what have the humans done to the nature as retribution? Some peoples only give the nature disasters. They destruct, contaminate, and exploited the environment. As example, the humans obtain the wood from trees for their self importance. This causes habitat loss and threatens the survival of numerous species of animals and plants. The next example is human need air conditioner to cool down their self in summer. Have you ever thought that AC causes ozone layer depletion? Also, AC requires a lot of electricity.

What can we do to save our nature? We can start by doing small actions because usually small actions are easy to be applied and they are very influence. We can start by going to school or work by public transportation or even bicycle (if our school or work place is near), reducing the use of plastic bags, unplug unused electricity appliances, and also shortening our shower by just a minute. After all, let's love the nature and let the nature loves us back.

2017 Holiday

Hello fellas! It's good to see you again. On this opportunity I'd like to tell you about my holidays for the past two weeks. Well, I'm not really satisfied because I think last holiday was really shoooooort.

I spent my time mostly at home. In the first week of holiday, I really had nothing to do. I woke up - ate - did the chores - watching k-drama/k-shows - playing games - ate - go back to sleep again and so forth. When I felt so bored, I ate. I really ate so much until I gained two kilograms! :(

After long time stayed at home nothing to do. Finally! In the second week, my mother started to take me somewhere. We went to several malls in Bandung. But then I felt bored again because I have visited the malls very often.

In the end of the holiday, I went to my aunt wedding party in Tangerang. Me and my family went from home after the dawn. It took 2,5 hours to get there. When we got there, there's only a few peoples that had come because the solemnization started at 8 am. We were early by one hour. After my aunt and my uncle had been legitimate as husband and wife, they hold the wedding party. There's so many food such as chicken satay, fish and chips, teriyaki, lasagna, sweet fried beef, etc.

After the wedding, me and my family decided to go to the mall. We chose to go there because my aunt said that there's many food to choose there. I bought green tea soft ice cream, sushi, okonomiyaki, fried chicken, etc.

From the mall, we went to a furniture appliances and home accessories store in Alam Sutera. That was my second visit. I went there because the store held sale for selected items and I wanted to buy floor lamp for my bedroom. But when I got there, the lamp that I'd like to buy has been out of stock. Then I decided to stroll around the building. I was mesmerized by the items.

At about 6 pm we decided to go home. The sky has been already dark. Moreover I had to prepare because the next day was my first day of school. We got home in the midnight.

I think that's enough. I wish in the next holiday I go to the place I've never visited with my family.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat, India. His father served as a chief minister in Porbandar and other states in western India. His mother was a deeply religious woman who fasted regularly. Gandhi grew up worshiping the Hindu god Vishnu and following Jainism, a morally rigorous ancient Indian religion that espoused non-violence, fasting, meditation and vegetarianism.

Young Gandhi was a shy, unremarkable student who was so timid displayed no signs of leadership. In May 1883, aged 13, He married Kasturba, a girl who also aged 13. He was very truthful from his boyhood days. Eighteen-year-old Gandhi sailed for London, England, in 1888 to study law. He worked as a barrister in England but he didn't do well.

After completing his study in England, he went to South Africa. Gandhi was struck by the level of racial discrimination and injustice. He decided to be a political activist in order to change the dicriminatory rules. Then, Gandhi form a nonviolence movement. During this time, thousand of Indians, including Gandhi, were jailed.

After spending 21 years in South Africa, Gandhi returned to India in 1915. He secured his place as the president of Indian National Congress. While fighting against the British rule in India, he always maintained his principles of truthfulness, peace and non-violence. In 1942, he launched the ‘
Quit India Movement’ to drive the British out of the country. It was at this time he became known as Mahatma, which means great soul.

The movement didn’t prove to be an immediate success, the British had to grant independence to India in 1947. India splited into two countries, India and Pakistan, but Gandhi oppossed this idea.  He was a Hindu but he believed that every religion has the same right to live together peacefully in a country.

This great son of India was shot dead on January 30, 1948. The assassin who killed him thought that Gandhi was taking sides against Islam. He has already dead, but he will live forever in our heart for what he has done for the world peace.

“Live as if you’ll die tomorrow. Learn as if you’ll live forever.”
